2025 Quilt Challenge
_______
Follow the Yellow Brick Road

What is a quilt challenge ?

The idea of a challenge quilt is to stretch guild members creativity. Guild members design and make a quilt around the annual Quilt Challenge theme. Members must follow the Quilt Challenge rules. The quilts are then displayed and the membership votes on their favorite quilts. Quilt challenge rules and theme are usually published during the first quarter of each year. Quilts are normally due, displayed and judged in November.

Quilt Challenge 2025

Follow the Yellow Brick Road
The phrase "yellow brick road" represents a journey towards an ultimate goal or destination. It can be seen as a metaphor for life's journey, where we encournter obstackles and challenges along the way but ultimately strive towards achieving our dreams and aspirations.

Guidelines:

1. 12" wide 18" tall

2. 3 layers -- pieced top, batting, back -- quilted by yourself. You must totally complete the quilt on your own. (Exceptions: Quilters 12 and under may have help with quilting and finishing.)

3. Finish using "envelope turn" or "facing" method -- no binding. There will be demo classes for these techniques.

4. Road must enter and exit in the lower 6" of the quilt. Quilts will be hung so that the yellow road is continuous from quilt to quilt. Use the yellow fabric supplied for the road.

5. Road can be pieced or applique', any shape and can go anywhere -- by the sea, through a garden, into space, or just through the quilt. It can be any shape -- curved, flying geese, rectangles, circular, whatever. It can be the yellow streak in a bargello pattern. Okay to add embellishments.

6. Sign up by July 1st, 2025 at HSQG clubhouse. You will receive a 4.5" by 20" piece of Toscana "Yellow brick road" fabric when you sign up

---------------------------

Important:

Email JoAnn at vandine@Q.com by October 15 with your name and the name of the quilt.

The challenge quilt viewing and voting takes place at the November guild meetings. Click here for guidelines.
